Community Health Nurse, Resource Team

Do you want to experience British Columbia to its fullest? Travel to various remote communities across the province and work in an expanded scope of practice to provide primary care, public health, health promotion, and emergency care for First Nations individuals, families, and communities, including after hours on-call care.

As an FNHA Community Health Nurse, Resource Team you will work in a 4-week rotation (0.5 FTE) flying in and out of FNHA’s nursing stations in various remote BC First Nations communities from your primary residence in Canada. You will experience the most beautiful and diverse culture and sceneries in Canada while improving the health and wellness of BC First Nations, with travel and accommodation paid for.

BC Remote Certification

FNHA Community Health Nurse, Resource Team, have or are working towards Remote Certification (RNC) and can live anywhere in Canada. If you are currently not Remote Certified, speak with us today on how we can help you obtain your RNC, with extensive training, travel and salary paid for while you’re pursuing your certification. Our next cohort start in January and only a few spots left!

Remote communities:

Telegraph Creek, Fort Ware, Tsay Keh Dene, Hartley Bay, Kitkatla, Klemtu, Anahim Lake, and Port Simpson

Hours per week: 37.5 hours while on assignment in community

What you need to be successful

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized university
  • 1-2 years of nursing experience (preferably in acute, emergency, med surg or public health)
  • Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License 
  • A medical health assessment and a reliability security clearance.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of, and ability to apply, an understanding of First Nations cultural principles and protocols in work situations is an asset
  • Knowledge of evidence based clinical nursing practice, including current concepts of primary care nursing for the delivery of treatment services, including clinical treatment practices, techniques of intervention, disease symptoms and identification, trauma management requiring knowledge and skill in observing, assessing, and diagnosing illnesses and injuries.
