The Community Nursing Branch is committed to standards of excellence in the provision of primary health care throughout Yukon, inclusive of 24/7 emergency care in rural communities. Reporting to the Director of Community Nursing, you will be responsible for managing the primary health care nursing programs and operations, and public health nursing services for a group of nurse-led health centres across Yukon. As Manager, you will act as a hub of providing support to community health centres, and as an advisor to the Director and management team about issues and needs in communities and primary health care. In this position, you will play a key role in supporting the vision and goals of the department through holistic health care delivery in Yukon communities, by respecting relationships with Indigenous and non-Indigenous populations, and through collaboration with partners, stakeholders and First Nations’ leadership to continually improve the population’s health status within communities.

The ideal candidate is a solution-focused problem-solver who has demonstrated ability to work well within a collaborative team environment. A key skill is the ability to coach employees to empower their decision-making and autonomy while considering Branch operational requirements. As such an individual, you will work closely and collaboratively with the Branch’s leadership team to identify budget requirements to safely meet patient and operational needs by managing expenditures; adhering to processes; establishing and maintaining standards of practice; hiring, supporting and managing performance of professional and support staff; and creating and sustaining a healthy work environment.
