Your role and responsibilities:

  • Assesses, records, and reports the health status of assigned patients/residents by collecting data from charts and records, observing conditions, conducting assessments, collaborating with the nursing team and other care partners, and documenting and reporting status changes to appropriate personnel.
  • Collaborates with the nursing team, multi-disciplinary members, community care partners, and the patient/resident and family to develop and adjust care plans by setting short- and long-term health goals, prioritizing nursing actions, and initiating discharge planning.
  • Provides nursing care by delivering direct patient care, explaining care plans to patients and families, conducting planned interventions, guiding unit staff, addressing crises, and teaching self-care skills to patients and families.
  • Evaluates patient/resident response to the care by assessing the effect of the nursing interventions as identified in the care plan and modifying interventions as appropriate. Initiates the multidisciplinary team evaluations of patient/resident care, including readiness for discharge.
  • Contributes to the nursing department or unit by offering input on policy and procedure development, assisting with unit-based and community program modifications, and participating in quality improvement activities

What you need to apply:

  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Minimum 2 years recent Critical Care nursing experience and or an accredited Critical Care course.
  • Demonstrated ability in arrhythmia interpretation as evidenced by a mark of 75% on the VIHA ECG Challenge exam.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support and CRRT (continuous renal replacement therapy) are assets
