Your Opportunity:
Wetaskiwin has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN) in their Emergency/Outpatients Department! Wetaskiwin Emergency Department (ED) is a 22-bed unit. As an RN in our ED and member of our nursing care team, your Emergency Department experience will be valuable in our busy Trauma Rooms. You will also demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our patients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide direct patient and family centered care. You may also be required to share your skills and experience on the acute care units.
Wetaskiwin is located 70 km south of Edmonton in the heart of Central Alberta. The city name comes from the Cree word which means the hills where peace was made. You can take a self-guided tour through the historic downtown and read about the peace cairn that commemorates sixty years of peace between the Blackfoot and the Cree. Wetaskiwin has an extensive trail system that leads you around the entire city with a direct connection to By-the-Lake Park. Year-round markets provide citizens and visitors with fresh fruit, produce and many different homemade items. The Manluk Centre offers swim lessons, Fitness programs and Aquatic Leadership courses, as well as party facilities. There’s always something to do in Wetaskiwin!

Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. This posting is scheduled to close at 23:59 MT of the posting end date but may be filled earlier if a Regular Employee who holds a position within the unit, program, or office expresses their interest in this vacancy by 23:59 MT on the 5th calendar day following the posting date, under LOU #25. Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
One year experience as a Registered Nurse in Emergency Department. Strong communication skills both written and orally.
Preferred Qualifications:
ENPEP-Emergency Nursing Provincial Education Program. CAM-A-Cardiac Arrest Management-A module. ACLS- Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Lead II. TNCC- Trauma Nursing Core Course. Trauma 101. ENPC- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course. PALS-Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Pediatric Building Blocks. NRP-Neonatal Resuscitation Program. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention 2-day training course. CTAS- Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale certification in the last 2 years.
