The College of Nursing and St. Amant invite applications to fill an Assistant or Associate Professor tenured or tenure track position (23683). This is a joint appointment between the University of Manitoba and St. Amant. The appointee must have a PhD with registration as an active practicing RN in the Province of Manitoba. Clinical and research experience with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred.  The position will commence on July 1, 2019 or as soon as possible. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications

 

The College of Nursing is one of five colleges within the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences (RFHS) at the University of Manitoba. The College of Nursing offers undergraduate and graduate programs. The Bachelor of Nursing (BN) program is a concept based curriculum and has a state of the art simulation program. The BN program is also delivered in partnership with the University College of the North in The Pas and Thompson. A new Bachelor of Midwifery program is in development. The Aboriginal Nursing Cohort Initiative (ANCI) provides students with Indigenous ancestry with academic and personal supports to facilitate success. At the graduate level, the College of Nursing offers a Master’s Program with four streams, including Nurse Practitioner (NP), administration, education and clinical practice streams. In addition, the College offers a PhD Program in Nursing. We have three Research Chairs: a Canada Research Chair in Child and Family Engagement in Health Research and Healthcare; a Manitoba Research Chair in Caregiver Communication, and a Clinical Scientist, Canadian Child Health Clinician Scientist Program. The College has clinical practice and research links with other universities nationally and internationally and with a number of research institutes in Manitoba. The Manitoba Centre for Nursing and Health Research (MCNHR) is a research unit within the College of Nursing. The MCNHR is the only research centre in Manitoba that is solely dedicated to facilitating and supporting collaborative nursing and health research. The College of Nursing has a strong commitment to the Indigenous community, to accessibility and diversity, and to a wide range of practice environments. POSITION ATTRIBUTES

Teaching (approximately 30%):

• Provide leadership and/or participate in development, revision and coordination of leading edge courses in patient-centred and family-centred care, family caregiving, child health.
• Provide high quality teaching and clinical supervision of students at the undergraduate and graduate level.
• Assist in formulation and implementation of the College’s research plans, strategies and objectives.
• Provide high quality mentorship to graduate students through the development, implementation, and evaluation of thesis/capstone projects.
• Demonstrate sound interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain effective collaborative working relationships and to effectively represent the College of Nursing within the University and outside the University.
• Develop partnerships with professional, industry, and government organizations to further education, research, and clinical nursing practice.
• Promote awareness of developmental disabilities and increase capacity to respond to this population’s needs.

Research, Scholarly Work and Other Creative Activities (approximately 50%):

• Maintain an ongoing program of funded research that is aligned with St. Amant Research Centre’s strategic directions.
• Attract and successfully manage research grants including the University of Manitoba research start-up fund, which must be used within the first 3 years from the start date.
• Engage in other scholarly work and creative activities as related to discipline and field of expertise.
• Publish the results of scholarship/research in national and international peer- reviewed journals.
• Provide leadership and mentorship as a clinical and research expert in developing, implementing and evaluating best practice care at St. Amant and within St. Amant Research Centre.
• Provide research leadership and assist colleagues to increase their research skills and outputs.

Service (approximately 20%):

• Participate in the governance of the University through active membership on College and Faculty councils, and other committees.
• Engage in community service related to and as appropriate to discipline and field of expertise
• Work effectively as part of a senior management team at St. Amant and within St. Amant Research Centre.
