Child and Youth Mental Health Clinician
$71,376.41 - $93,685.11 annually plus $40.42 bi-weekly Isolation Allowance for Hazelton and Houston and $34.20 for Smithers

The Ministry of Children and Family Development's community-based Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) teams work with families and communities to foster positive mental health outcomes and well-being for children, youth and their families.

The Child and Youth Mental Health Clinician will provide direct clinical services such as intake, assessment, treatment, suicide risk assessment, safety plans and crisis intervention for children, youth and their families. Through consultation, they will collaborate with regional service providers and build and maintain relationships with community mental health and substance use services, local hospitals, and Indigenous agencies to support continuity of care and integrated service delivery.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Registered as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a recognized university relevant to the field of mental health and substance use.
    • NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
    • NOTE: All education credentials will be subject to verification as per the outlined ministry process.
  • Minimum of one (1) year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
