We are recruiting experienced nurses to fill various positions available in remote and/or isolated First Nations communities. The majority of nursing positions are available in Ontario and Manitoba; there are also work opportunities in Alberta and Quebec.

. Community Health Nurse (CHN)

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION

COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE & NURSE IN CHARGE: Eligibility for registration as a registered nurse in a province or territory of Canada.

NURSE PRACTITIONER: Eligibility for registration as a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class (Nurse Practitioner) in a province or territory of Canada.

EDUCATION

COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE & NURSE IN CHARGE: 
Graduation with a degree in nursing from a recognized postsecondary institution.*

NURSE PRACTITIONER: Graduation with a Masters degree in Nursing from a recognized post secondary institution* or graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution* in Nurse Practitioner Program with successful completion of approved training in Primary Care, All Ages specialization or some other specialty relevant to the position.

*Recognized post-secondary institution: Public or private institution that has been given authority to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of a provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. For greater certainty, also included are institutions authorized to grant specific academic credentials for specific academic programs.

Candidates with foreign credentials must provide proof of Canadian equivalency. Consult the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials for further information at http://www.cicic.ca or Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada (ACESC) at www.canalliance.org.

EXPERIENCE

COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE & NURSE IN CHARGE & NURSE PRACTITIONER:
Recent* and Significant** experience providing Community Health or Primary Care nursing services.
Recent* is defined as within the last five years.
Significant** is defined as at least two years' experience with the candidate performing complex activities related to this task in a wide variety of situations in one or more of the following areas:

1. Community Health (Public Health and Home and Community Care)
2. Primary Care
3. Urgent or Emergency Care
4. Acute or Intensive Care

NURSE IN CHARGE:
Experience as program or project leader in delivery of health services.

INFIRMIÈRE/INFIRMIER EN SANTÉ COMMUNAUTAIRE et INFIRMIER/INFIRMIÈRE RESPONSABLE:
Diplôme en soins infirmièrs d’un établissement postsecondaire reconnu.*

INFIRMIÈRE PRATICIENNE/INFIRMIER PRATICIEN: Obtention d'une maîtrise en soins infirmiers d'un établissement postsecondaire reconnu* or diplôme d’un établissement postsecondaire reconnu* décerné pour avoir réussi un programme de formation d’infirmière praticienne/infirmier practicien avec spécialisation en soins primaires pour tous les âges, ou avec spécialisation dans un autre domaine pertinent pour le post. 

*Établissement postsecondaire reconnu : Établissement d’enseignement public ou privé auquel a été accordé, en vertu d’une loi publique ou privée d’un gouvernement provincial ou territorial ou dans le cadre d’un mécanisme gouvernemental d’assurance de la qualité, le pouvoir de délivrer des diplômes et d’autres attestations d’études. Pour plus de clarté, ce type d’établissements comprend aussi ceux qui sont autorisés à décerner des attestations spécifiques pour des programmes académiques précis.

EXPÉRIENCE

*Par expérience récente, on entend une expérience acquise au cours des cinq dernières années.
**Pour que l'expérience soit jugée appréciable**, elle doit être d'au moins deux ans et comprendre des activités complexes liées à la tâche, dans une vaste gamme de situations dans au moins un des domaines suivants:

1. santé communautaire (santé publique, soins à domicile et soins communautaires)
2. soins primaires
3. soins urgent ou d'urgence
4. soins actifs ou intensifs

INFIRMIER/INFIRMIÈRE RESPONSABLE:
Expérience à titre de chef de programme ou de projet dans la prestation de services de santé.
