Alberta Health Services has an exciting opportunity available for a Corrections Health Manager at the Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Centre (FSCC). In this leadership position, you will support, guide, and influence the care provided to patients incarcerated at the FSCC which is a correctional center, which houses both female and male inmates.  The Corrections Health Manager oversees a multidisciplinary team of nurses, nurse practitioners, psychologists, addictions counsellors and social workers who support the provision of healthcare, addictions and mental health to a marginalized population. The Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Centre is operated by the Justice and Solicitor General (JSG) Correctional Services Division (CSD) while AHS provides Correctional Healthcare Services, therefore it is important that the Corrections Health Manger understands, builds and fosters working relationships between both working groups. In this role, you will provide leadership to staff through collaborative coaching, guiding and modeling key behaviours and strategies, encouraging dialogue and providing guidance and advice to facilitate the best possible patient centred care.

Description:

Reporting to the Director - Correctional Health, the Corrections Health Manager is responsible for healthcare operations at the Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Centre (FSCC). The Manager works both independently and with other stakeholders to provide leadership in the provision of quality healthcare to clients while incarcerated while building and maintaining a liaison with Correctional Officers and community healthcare resources.

The FSCC Healthcare Manager plays a key leadership role and is accountable for providing direction of the Alberta Health Services (AHS) Correctional Health Care team in support of the vision, mission, values, and business plan of AHS. The position makes key decisions (often under tight timelines and situational pressure) and has direct leadership responsibility to the achievement of the goals of the AHS Corrections Health Care Unit. Key responsibilities of this position include; leadership, relationship and change management, resource management (human, material and financial), risk management, and strategic planning. The centre offers "in centre" healthcare support 16 hours/day, 7 days/week.

Required Qualifications:

Baccalaureate Degree in healthcare. Minimum two (2) years recent clinical experience in a management/supervisory role. Working knowledge of the healthcare system. Superior communication and conflict management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree. Experience in Corrections. A strong clinical background in care of marginalized populations. Experience in managing within the Corrections field. Knowledge of Justice and Solicitor General (JSG) Correctional Services.
