The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre is a program of Provincial Services Division of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. The Maples is a designated Provincial Mental Health facility providing ‘On-site’ and community-based programming, as well as outreach and ancillary services to collaboratively support youth, families and their communities. The Maples consists of troubled youth in British Columbia who have significant psychiatric and behavioural difficulties, ages 12 to 17, as well as youth found Not Criminally Responsible by Reason of a Mental Disorder (NCRMD) or unfit to stand trial. 

 The Child Care Counsellor, as part of the multi-disciplinary team, is responsible for providing Assessment, Care Planning, Treatment, Discharge and Community services for severely thought disordered or conduct disordered youths admitted to the Centre, in accordance with established principles and guidelines of practice; to perform various administrative duties which support program objectives; and to perform other related duties as required.

Our Coquitlam Centre will be monitored via Video Surveillance.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Graduation from a University of recognized standing with a Degree in the Behavioural Sciences or a Nursing degree.
  • Minimum 6 months of continuous, recent (within the past 5 years) experience in Group Home or Institution/Treatment Centre, Hospital, School etc. settings.
     

Preference may be given to applicants who have Indigenous heritage (First Nations, Metis or Inuit) and who also have the required combination of education and experience
