Registered Nurse, Med/Surg

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Lakes District Hospital.

Under the direction of the Director of Acute Patient Services or designate, provides general and specialized nursing care to patients, utilizing the nursing process and in accordance with the philosophy, objectives and policies of Lakes District Integrated Health Services and the Department of Nursing. Participates in all nursing activities, assists in teaching and/or supervising Licensed Practical Nurses & Care Aides. Assumes the responsibilities of the ward and will assume charge responsibilities when designated.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work:: 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00, rotating

Lakes District Hospital is a 12 acute bed hospital that offers emergency services, laboratory, diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation, pharmacy. There is one labour/delivery/recovery suite and 1 palliative care room. There are provision for public health, mental health and addictions, and home and community care service, as well as local physician and emergency services.

Burns Lake has a population of 1,779 (2021) local residents and serves the surrounding areas of the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako estimating a population of 7,000. Wilderness and some of BC’s largest freshwater lakes where sport fishing is a popular activity for both locals and tourists surround Burns Lake. Qualifications

  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN or RPN registrant.
