The Lab Resource Nurse (LRN) is a registered nurse who supports the Bachelor of Science of Nursing, Practical Nursing and Health Care Assistant programs in the Faculty of Health and Human Services. The main role of the LRN is to provide, upon referral from a faculty/instructor member, remediation to students to assist them to achieve safe and best practices in nursing skills; consolidate critical thinking competencies; and assist students to overcome challenges related to specific nursing skills in a non-evaluative environment. The LRN will provide feedback to students and faculty/instructors, but is not responsible for student evaluation, which is the responsibility of the students' instructors. The LRN will not provide instruction to students for missed classes, but work as a resource to support student success in their lab and practice courses.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an appropriately accredited institution.
  • Current practicing membership in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC).
  • Knowledge of the role and scope of practice of Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses, and Home Care Assistants.
  • Medical, surgical and gerontology knowledge and skills.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and have a confirmed satisfactory driving record.
