Program Director, Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Oulton College, a regulated career college in the Province of New Brunswick since 1956, is in the process of acquiring Ministerial Consent to offer a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program in Moncton, NB. The program has thus far obtained preliminary approval with Nurses Association of NB and is anticipating launch in 2023. With this future in mind, we are seeking a Program Director to work with us on the final, pre-launch development for the program.

Once the program is approved and the development is complete, the ideal candidate for this position will transition to the full-time permanent role of BScN Program Director, responsible for planning, coordinating, and evaluating the program as it evolves.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for this exciting new position will include:

· Fostering excellence in teaching, scholarship, research and professional service;

· Ensuring provincial/national standards and requirements are met in the delivery of the BScN program;

· Interpretation of academic policies, including participation in appeal processes;

· Ensuring continuity and consistency in the delivery of BScN program curriculum;

· Participation in the marketing and promotion of the BScN program;

· Establishing and maintaining effective collaborative relationships with key stakeholders;

· Participation on various College and external committees (in a leadership role as required).

· Ensuring BScN program and activities align with the college strategic plan and priorities

· Effectively leading and managing BScN program faculty

· Initiating, facilitating and actively participating in the development and implementation of new program initiatives to reflect market changes and the employment needs of industry, to enhance students' experience and increase enrolment

· Ensuring program outcomes are achieved through effective leadership and supervision of the teaching and learning processes

· Establishing positive relationships with internal (faculty, staff and students) and external (industry/sector representatives, professional associations) stakeholders

· Assisting with the recruiting, hiring and evaluation of all BScN program faculty

· Ensuring that faculty and staff assignments are consistent with college policies, procedures and standards.

· Work collaboratively with the CFO and Finance Manager to determine program budgets and financial planning.

· Initiating problem solving processes for disputes involving staff, faculty and students

· Assisting as necessary with the implementation of special projects across the portfolio

Job Qualifications

The successful candidate will bring proven leadership experience (ideally within a postsecondary environment) and a strong track record in developing and successfully launching programming that is immersive, collaborative and attuned to the needs of a diverse student population. The ideal candidate will have outstanding relationship skills and an ability to achieve results in a highly complex, multi-partner environment. The Program Director will have demonstrated being committed to Reconciliation and Indigenization and will be focused on outcomes that serve a broad mandate. A strong level of collaboration with faculty and peers will be imperative to the candidate's success in supporting endeavors that strengthen connections with learners, the Institution and the general community.

Education: The successful graduate will hold a Master's degree (minimum) in Nursing or related field. Having a relevant Ph.D. degree or being a Ph.D. candidate or planning to enroll in a relevant doctoral program would be an asset. Current registration or being able to obtain the license with the Nurses Association of New Brunswick is required.

Experience: At least 5 years' experience in nursing education and administrative experience is required (ideally in a post-secondary environment). Experience with meeting or exceeding accreditation standards and program review applications is desired.
