Associate Dean, School of Nursing

Saskatchewan Polytechnic is the leader of post-secondary applied education and training in the province and is poised to reach that same standard nationally. This position will be key in providing administrative and educational leadership for instructional programs and special projects and provides leadership in advancing innovation in the school. The incumbent is accountable for developing external relations for articulation and laddering purposes and is responsible for ensuring relevancy of programs through interactions with advisory committees, trade boards and/or professional associations. They will lead a broad range of initiatives impacting the daily and longer-term strategic issues important to the institution. By implementing key initiatives identified in the strategic plan, multi-year business plan and the schools’ operating plans, the associate dean ensures the schools’ goals and objectives are met. The Associate Dean will ensure program quality, encourage and guide an exceptional team in their commitment to academic integrity and prepare their graduates for success in their field.

Reporting to the Dean, School of Nursing and School of Health Sciences, the Associate Dean will play a major leadership role in positioning the School of Nursing to address the growing demand for educated and qualified individuals in a rapidly growing economy. Based in Regina or Saskatoon, the Associate Dean will lead a team comprised of four academic chairs, nine program heads, two continuing education consultants, a project manager and program development consultant located across the province.  The Associate Dean will also develop and foster effective relationships and networks with other schools and departments within Saskatchewan Polytechnic, as well as partnerships with key local, provincial and national stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in nursing or in a relevant discipline and a history of applicable leadership and management experience. Eligibility for registration with the CRNS is required. Key to success in this role will be fostering innovation in education delivery, technology, research, efficiencies, and revenue generation as well as developing and leading high-performing teams. Instructional experience in a post-secondary institution is considered an asset.
