Position Summary

Interior Health’s Kelowna General Hospital is inviting applications for the position of Permanent Part-Time Operating Room Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Days of work are rotating and shifts include varying Days or Nights. We offer an exceptional employer-paid benefits package including generous vacation entitlement after the first year of employment. Relocation Allowance package may be offered with position.

Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is one of two tertiary hospitals within Interior Health and is the region’s main referral center offering a full range of services with approximately 400 beds and over 84,000 ED visits yearly. KGH is home to the Interior Heart & Surgical Centre (IHSC) and is BC’s only cardiac critical care centre outside of Victoria and the Lower Mainland. IHSC is Kelowna General Hospital’s principal surgical site and features; 12 specialized Operating Rooms created for Thoracic, Urology, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Plastics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Ears Nose and Throat, Orthopedics, General and Trauma surgeries with two ORs dedicated to Cardiac Surgery.

The Operating Room Licensed Practical Nurse provides practical nursing services in an operating room environment as a member of an integrated surgical team performing varied surgical interventions. Consulting and collaborating with members of the surgical team this position facilitates safe and effective surgical interventions through the performance of scrubbing and circulating duties in accordance with established standards and protocols. This includes pre-operative, operative, and post-operative activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting client care, and providing support to clients and their families.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses with the full range of current licensed practical nursing competencies, and graduation from an accredited O.R. program for Licensed Practical Nurses plus one (1) year recent related experience working as a Licensed Practical Nurse in acute care, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current full practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Current CPR certification required.
