Information Nurse

We’re seeking Five Temporary Part-Time Information Nurses to join our team in Sudbury. The start date will be February 28, 2022. We have a variety of end dates ranging from August 20th, 2022 to November 15th 2022.

Responsibilities include:   

  • Communication with internal and external customers
  • Determine urgency of call back ensuring accurate information is provided in a timely fashion in response to donor/caller inquiries/complaints related to the blood program
  • Ask detailed questions of the caller regarding medical conditions, medications, medical history and travel history to determine their eligibility
  • Respond to reactions or incidents by verbally assessing condition and providing the caller with appropriate information
  • Complete required documentation associated with the donor and update donor file/database
  • Maintain competency and continue professional growth
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in department in-services, training and educational programs
  • Promote a positive and safe work environment and deliver customer service excellence
  • Schedule appointments for eligible blood donors to meet collection requirements
  • Performs other related duties as required

Required Skills:

  • Graduate of a recognized Registered Nursing Program
  • Licensed RN with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
  • 1-2 years of nursing experience
  • Previous experience in a blood collection environment preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential, fluency in French an asset
  • Computer literacy and keyboarding skills are essential
  • Flexibility with regards to work hours and shift assignments
