This posting is to staff one (1) full-time, permanent position, working 75 hours bi-weekly, in Whitehorse.

Community Nursing provides programming designed to meet the unique needs of Yukon communities. We are recognized for our commitment to excellence in the provision of rural and remote, primary and public health services throughout the Yukon, including 24/7 emergency care.

The Community Nursing team is a group of high-performing, compassionate people dedicated to serving with respect and purpose. We seek to foster relationships with Indigenous Peoples and collaborate with First Nations’ leadership to continually improve population health status in Yukon communities. We are committed to the ongoing development of our team, and are recognized for our formal mentorship program designed to prepare and support nurses who serve rural communities in an expanded scope of practice.

As the Manager – Clinical Practice and Quality Improvement, you will form an integral part of our collaborative leadership team. You will be responsible for managing the development, implementation, and monitoring of clinical practice training and structured orientation. Monitor trends and risks, identifying gaps and making recommendations for new clinical policy. Conduct on-going evaluation and improvement of Community Nursing education and training programs and processes to support excellence in the delivery of client services. The position involves responsibility for developing, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on quality assurance and improvement activities in areas of responsibility. Providing clinical expertise to program staff and peer managers, you will collaborate to understand the needs of the communities we serve while ensuring that the operational requirements of the branch are met. You will be responsible for managing expenditures, identifying budgetary requirements, and creating/sustaining a healthy work environment.

Essential Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, or bachelor’s degree in Nursing plus master’s in a relevant field;
  • Experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Primary Health Care Nursing or as a Registered Nurse within an expanded role in rural and remote areas;
  • Experience or formal training in quality improvement processes;
  • Significant management and supervisory experience in a dynamic environment; and
  • Experience developing education resources for adult learners, standards, policies and protocols.
  • Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating programs is an asset.

Conditions of Employment: Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector; Valid Yukon Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent; Yukon Registered Nursing Association registration in good standing.

Job Requirements: Willingness and ability to travel throughout the Yukon by air and road. Rotational after-hours emergency coverage by phone.
