Collection Supervisor, Cord Blood

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular Full-Time Collection Supervisor, Cord Blood to join our dynamic Cord Blood team in Edmonton. The work of the Collection Supervisor, Cord Blood is integral to Canadian Blood Services role as Canada’s Lifeline. Reporting to the Manager, Recruitment/Collections, the Collection Supervisor is responsible for managing the planning, preparation, implementation and evaluation of assigned hospital collection sites and controlling all collection activities and resources at those sites.

  • Manages, directs and oversees Cord Blood Bank (CBB) collection staff performing recruitment/collection duties and activities to ensure a high level of customer service and compliance with Canadian Blood Services’ standard policies and procedures
  • Interviews, hires and manages assigned CBB collection staff
  • Prepares, conducts and completes performance appraisals for assigned staff and provides on-going coaching, guidance and monitoring of staff performance
  • Addresses performance gaps, sets performance improvement targets and follows up with employees to ensure targets are met or exceeded
  • Ensures collection site is planned, organized and managed to provide for safe, efficient and cost effective recruitment activities and cord blood collection 
  • Promotes good interpersonal skills and customer service principles among team members, maternal registrants, physicians, midwives, nurses and health care providers
  • Responsible for stakeholder engagement in the hospital and applicable community clinics to ensure the success of operations
  • Perform maternal health assessments and eligibility screening when required 
  • On site support during internal and external audits
