Associate Dean, Division of Extended Education & Community Wellness and Health

In an entrepreneurial and team-focused environment, the Associate Dean is responsible for academic leadership within their school or division and promotes excellence within a learner-centred environment. 

Leading a comprehensive learner-focused team, the Associate Dean has overall responsibility for the development/redevelopment, delivery and assessment of programs and curriculum to contribute to the School/Divisions reputation as a hub of innovation and incubation for lifelong learning programming. The Associate Dean is responsible for key decision making in relation to program and course development within the School/Division, and for achieving strategic and financial targets.  

The Associate Dean utilizes flexibility and creativity to execute the programming goals of the School/Division to meet community needs while meeting the fiscal targets of the School.

The Associate Dean provides support and mentorship as the direct supervisor to staff, faculty, and instructors including work plans, professional development and scholarly activity to ensure delivery of a high-quality learning experience for learners. 

The Associate Dean works with the Dean and other colleagues to establish and implement School/Division and program goals and objectives to enable an institutional culture of life-long learning and academic excellence in a learning-centred environment.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing with a minimum of a master’s degree in a relevant field related to health, education or leadership
  • Active current license with CARNA

 

Experience

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible leadership experience, including direct supervision of employees (recruitment, selection, development, coaching, performance assessment)

  • Demonstrates effective communication skills with both written and verbal communication

  • Proven success in the development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum and programs
