OPERATING ROOM LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE

Position Summary:

Interior Health’s Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) invites applications for the position of Permanent Full Time, Operating Room Licensed Practical Nurse.

PRH is a 155 bed Acute Care facility responsible for providing core medical and surgical specialty services to surrounding population of approximately 90,000 people. PRH currently operates five operating rooms and a urology procedure room to provide services for urology, ENT, general surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, chronic pain and uncomplicated pediatric cases over 2 years. There are two ORs at the Summerland Health Centre where services are provided including pediatric dental.

As a member of the PRH Operating Room team, you will coordinate and oversee the overall care of the client and set priorities, provide clinical expertise and leadership for the plan of care, plan and implement health care treatments and interventions, and assign and delegate tasks as appropriate to other members of the healthcare team.

Reporting to Manger, Clinical Operations Operating Room, you will draw upon your ability to consult, confer, and collaborate with other members of the surgical team in facilitating safe and effective surgical interventions through the performance of scrubbing and circulating duties. As a member of the perioperative team, you will collaborate with the Registered Nurses coordinating care in the operating room while performing in the following roles: 1) Admission of patient to the Operating Room, 2) Scrub role, and 3) Second circulating role.

This is a vacation relief line where regular rotation is set (i.e. Days and Evenings with on-call responsibilities); however, the position fluctuates when there is need to cover another OR LPN’s vacation time. Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses with the full range of current licensed practical nursing competencies, and graduation from an accredited O.R. program for Licensed Practical Nurses plus one (1) year recent related experience working as a Licensed Practical Nurse in acute care, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Current full practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCMN).

• Current CPR certification required.
