Job Summary
Plans and provides direct nursing care to patients in accordance with the hospital policies and the BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.  Reports to the Emergency/Intensive Care Unit Patient Care Coordinator.

Top 4 Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Assess, records and reports the health status of the unit's patients to identify and document patient status by performing duties
  • Provides nursing care by performing nursing functions
  • Evaluates patient response to the care by assessing the effect of the nursing interventions and modifying interventions as appropriate.
  • Contributes to the ongoing development of the nursing department

Job Qualifications

  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Post-graduate certification in Emergency Nursing or Critical Care Nursing or a minimum of one year's recent related experience in an Emergency or ICU setting or an equivalent combination of training and experience acceptable to the hospital.
  • Current certification in CPR - Basic Rescuer level required.  Current ACLS certification preferred.
  • All Specially Trained Nursing Skills (STN) related to the unit of employment must be completed within six (6) months of employment.
