This posting is for 1 (one) full-time term (greater than 6 terms) position.

Reporting to the Manager, the Nurse-in-Charge (NIC), Pandemic is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the Yukon Communicable Disease Control's (YCDC) Pandemic efforts.

The NIC, Pandemic provides both Pandemic and infectious disease and reportable communicable disease services and control through an expanded nursing role. The NIC, Pandemic must work effectively with both registered nurses, other healthcare providers, and organizations involved in Pandemic and other communicable disease care and management. The NIC, Pandemic provides primary health care and outbreak management support, and assists with the planning, development, implementation, and evolution of public health and education programs in the Territory. This position plays a key leadership role in YCDC, and involves working closely with the Manager, YCDC and the NIC, YCDC on staffing and budget administration, and participating in various health committees to ensure the optimal functioning of the unit.

Essential Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate in Nursing.
  • Current registration in good standing with a Canadian registered nursing regulatory body.
  • Significant nursing experience in communicable disease management.
  • Recent and relevant supervisory experience in a healthcare facility demonstrating a skill set that includes responsibility for orientating, supervising, formal performance reviews or management of employees.
  • Recent experience in a supervisory role leading teams in a healthcare setting is considered an asset.
  • Experience in supervising/managing the delivery of community health/public health programs is considered an asset.

Conditions of Employment: Current YRNA licence in good standing, Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector Screening, TB Screening, Current Basic CPR HCP, and valid Driver’s licence.

Job Requirements: Completion of Yukon Immunization Certification within 2 months of hire, completion of Transportation of Dangerous Goods within 6 months of hire, ability to travel, ability to lift up to 15kg.
