The Pediatric Inpatient Rehabilitation Division at the GRH is currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) who is passionate about caring for pediatric patients requiring specialized care. In this NP position, you will report clinically to the Medical Director, Pediatric Inpatient Rehabilitation Division, and administratively to the manager of Nursing Professional Practice.

This role will allow you to apply your clinical Nurse Practitioner experience and collaborate as part of a large interdisciplinary team providing care to pediatric patients with general neurological and other conditions requiring tertiary rehabilitation care. You will also be empowered and accountable to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders as well as work collaboratively with patients and families as partners in care. Job Description:

The Nurse Practitioner in the Pediatric Inpatient Rehabilitation Division requires a comprehensive knowledge base and ability to apply such in the clinical setting. The NP operates under an interdisciplinary model to meet the pediatric program and organizational goals. The NP works collaboratively with physicians, residents and members of the interdisciplinary team, with the primary responsibility to deliver the medical care in consultation with the most responsible physician. The NP is also required to perform comprehensive assessments, diagnosis of health conditions, ordering and interpreting tests, prescribing of medications and therapeutic interventions, and referral and evaluations through the continuum of services. The NP will be required to participate in the evaluation of programs, policies, procedures and support clinical research in context of evidenced-based, best practice and patient/family centered care.

Required Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Advanced Nursing Practice. Minimum 2 years’ experience as a NP. Previous experience in rehabilitation setting. Five (5) years’ work experience in medical/surgical pediatric care. Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) In the Family/All Ages or Child/Pediatric NP stream. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support-Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Knowledge and experience with learning principles as well as ability to successfully lead teams. Experienced at providing patient/family education. Excellent interpersonal communication, verbal and written skills, well developed critical thinking and problem solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, physicians and other members of the health team. Ability to network with acute care and community to facilitate patients & families through the continuum of care.

Preferred Qualifications:

Expert in pediatric medical/surgical and rehabilitation. ALS/PALS certification.
