We are looking for both part time and full time Nursing Instructors to teach our Health Care Practice and Management Postgraduate Certificate program out of our Vancouver campus. We are accepting applications immediately.

The Postgraduate Certificate in Health Care Practice and Management prepares Internationally Educated Nurses to integrate their prior education and take on management or leadership roles in the dynamic Canadian healthcare environment. In this comprehensive and applied two-year program, learners will enhance their theoretical nursing knowledge and clinical nursing skills within the Canadian context. The program draws upon management and organizational knowledge to support learners who aspire to manage and lead within healthcare organizations. Foundational business and management concepts are applied to challenges faced by both public and private healthcare organizations. Graduates of the program will possess the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to help their organizations achieve their business and strategic goals.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Coordinate and maintain standards of excellence for program
  • Ensure compliance with the Private Institutions Branch, Provincial and Federal Student Loans and any national expectations and standards for quality education
  • Utilize the student management system to enter grades, attendance, and student correspondence
  • Provide guidance and assistance with student issues as they relate to the classroom
  • Be responsible for implementation of lesson plans
  • Discuss all curriculum concerns and revisions with instructional team
  • Participate in Sterling College promotional activities
  • Represent Sterling College with professionalism and the highest level of ethics

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate, facilitate, engage and lead in a classroom setting.
  • Demonstrated adult education delivery experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with learner assessment and providing feedback.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote a creative learning environment.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency with current computer applications
  • Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking in approach to teaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and work direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse with a current Practicing License
  • In-depth understanding of current RN Processing for IENs
  • Current CPR certification
  • At least 2 or more years of clinical experience
  • 3 or more years of nursing teaching experience

Required Experience: A minimum of 24 months of full-time occupational experience with a degree/diploma/certificate in the field of study or 10 years of demonstrated experience in the field of study.
