Occupational Health Nurse

An exciting opportunity exists for Nurse Practitioner (s) at our Kearl Oil Sands Operation, located north of Fort McMurrary and at our Calgary offices. Imperial's Occupational Health Services are fully integrated to provide fitness for work determination, health surveillance and clinical disability case management. In this position, you will provide support for the delivery of Imperial's Occupational Health programs and services to the Kearl workforce or the Calgary headquarters as part of an innovative and dynamic oil sands operation and Upstream business lines.


The Kearl placing will be a full time fly-in, fly-out role to Kearl site from either Calgary or Edmonton. Bus transportation is also available to Kearl site from Fort McMurray at the beginning and end of each shift rotation for Fort McMurray residents. Kearl operations positions will typically be 11 days on and 9 days off (shift rotations start and finish with a partial-day shift.).  Kearl operations will provide safe, secure and quiet accommodation near to the worksite for employees working on rotating work schedules. Facilities include a private room/washroom for each employee.

 

Qualifications

Academic:

  • Nursing degree or Advanced Nursing degree
  • Current, or eligible for unrestricted, registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA)
  • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing in Canada (COHN(C))  is preferred
  • Familiarity with clinical health risk assessment,  fitness for work determination, and periodic health assessments
  • Knowledge of provincial OH&S legislation, exposure assessments, and industrial hygiene is an asset
  • Certification in spirometry and audiometric testing is preferred

Other:

  • Strong clinical, interpersonal, analytical,  planning skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, SharePoint and Outlook and electronic medical record usage is an asset
  • Valid driver's license and a safe driving record
