Community Mental Health Nurse ll - Mental Health & Addictions

Responsibilities

 

Reporting to the Manager, Mental Health and Addiction Services, the Community Mental Health Nurse II (CMHN) works to full scope of practice as an independent practitioner within a multidisciplinary team to collaboratively provide an optimal level of care in a holistic manner which is respectful of the client’s bio, psycho, social, cultural and spiritual needs, and along a continuum of health (prevention, promotion, treatment, management and rehabilitation).  

 

The CMHN II conducts mental health assessment, diagnostic impression, treatment and discharge from service in accordance with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM manual).

 

The CMHN II ensures that the principles and practices that guide NSHA such as the mission, vision, values, expected behaviours, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and interprofessional collaboration are integrated within the services they provide and through the messages they deliver.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor degree in Nursing, and Master’s degree in a health related field
  • Registered with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia
  • Two (2) years' recent experience in mental health & addictions
  • Experience in Outpatient or Community Mental Health & Addictions would be an asset
  • Current in first aid and CPR
  • Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • CNA Mental Health Psychiatric Nursing Certification (an asset)
  • Psychosocial Rehabilitation nursing course (an asset)
  • Suicide Risk Assessment training is an asset

Hours of Work

 

Regular Full-time (100%) Position; 75.00 Hours Bi-weekly.

Travel to other sites is required. Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.

 

 

 

Salary Information

 

Registered Nurse (RN-4):

$36.1394 - $42.3219 hourly

($48.8033 with 25 years of Registered Nursing experience)
