The Provincial Assessment Centre (PAC) is a designated mental health facility serving clients with intellectual disabilities and concurrent psychiatric, psychological and or behavioral issues.  PAC provides short term assessment and treatment to support client community care needs and quality of life.

This is a great opportunity if you are looking for work-life balance, the position generally works standard office hours (Monday to Friday) and currently has a flex-time or fortnight work schedule of 1 week day off every 2 weeks. 

The Role:

The Psychiatric Nurse Liaison works collaboratively with an inter-professional care team in the provision of person-centered and recovery oriented care. 

Duties include:

  • intake assessment and scheduling,
  • community service planning
  • input into the care of psychiatric and concurrent disordered clients at PAC.

In conjunction with the PAC Social Worker and other PAC clinicians, this role is an important facilitator of communication and education with families and community care providers. The Psychiatric Nurse Liaison assists with ensuring effective client flow for assessed patients through collaboration with families and community and emergency service providers.  Additionally, this position also works as part of an outreach team completing assessments and treatment in community or home settings.

Qualifications:

Current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC). Bachelor’s degree in Nursing plus 3 years of recent related clinical experience in the designated clinical area, including 1 year of education and/or leadership experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. 

Travel:

Required throughout the Province to complete client assessments. Driving in winter conditions, as needed. Use of own vehicle on expenses. Transportation arrangements must meet operational requirements of CLBC.

Successful applicants are subject to a Criminal Record Check (Criminal Records Review Act) and are required to provide a clean Driver’s Abstract. 

Location:

In late February 2019 the Provincial Assessment Centre will be moving to the new Valleyview facility (Healing Spirit House) in Coquitlam on Lougheed Highway. This new facility was built to reinforce a home-like feel, welcoming character, and progressive practice in mental health care.
