Care Manager

Your Opportunity:

AHS has an exciting opportunity for a Care Manager, Athabasca Healthcare Centre and Boyle Healthcare Centre, responsible for a 27 bed and 20 bed Acute Care Nursing unit, Emergency Department and MDR. Reporting to the Site Manager, the Care Manager is a key leadership role responsible and accountable for direction, team leadership and organization over the activities of Acute Care, and Emergency while supporting the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. You will provide guidance, mentorship and day to day supervision of nursing staff within the department and play a key role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and health maintenance, while providing safe, quality patient and family centered care.

Description:

As the Care Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership to an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals dedicated to providing leading care to Albertans. In this leadership position, you will be making key decisions and establishing and contributing to the achievements and goals of the acute care/ER program as well as responsible for developing and maintaining a strong working relationship with key stakeholders, facilitating change management, promoting team development, teamwork and coordinating staffing and clinical work as identified by the Site Manager. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining an effective framework for the operations of patient care services in order to facilitate the delivery of efficient, effective and safe patient care. These activities may include providing day to day direction to the staff working on the unit, patient rounds, staff scheduling, interdisciplinary rounds, identifying and attempting to resolve patient and staff concerns, and participating in the discharge planning process.

Required Qualifications:

Active registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Three to five years in a health care provider role and a minimum of one year working in a leadership capacity. Possess a record of accomplishment in change management, effective communication and excellent decision making skills. A strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
