Endowed Chair - Sally Smith Chair in Nursing (Ref #IBHSC181901)
 
The School of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen’s University invites applications for the Sally Smith Chair in Nursing.  The Chair holder will normally be tenured, at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.  The individual holding the Sally Smith Chair in Nursing will have the award for five years, renewable for an additional five years and in very exceptional circumstances will hold the Chair for a further five years.  The preferred starting date for the appointment is January 1, 2019.

Candidates must have a PhD, preferably in Nursing, or an equivalent degree completed by the start date of the appointment. One graduate degree in nursing is required.  Candidates must be eligible for registration as a nurse in Ontario.  The main criteria for selection are academic and teaching excellence. The successful candidate will provide evidence of high quality scholarly output that demonstrates independent research leading to peer assessed publications and will conduct research supported by external funding. Failure to secure external funding within three years of the initial appointment may lead to termination of the appointment to the Chair position.  At the end of the fourth year of the initial term, an external review of the research program will be conducted and recommendations from the review team will be considered prior to reappointment to the Chair position. 

The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and will possess an ongoing commitment to academic and pedagogical excellence in support of the School’s programs. Candidates must provide evidence of an ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary and student-centred environment. The successful candidate will be required to make substantive contributions through service to the School, the Faculty, the University, and/or the broader community. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
