This posting is for a 1-year term for a Community Health Nurse - Vaccine Program.

Reporting to Manager of the Vaccine Program, this position involves developing, implementing and evaluating immunization programs and services for all vaccine preventable diseases. The incumbent provides support, education, and expert guidance to all health care providers and immunizers across the Territory, including pharmacists, nurses, physicians and other relevant disciplines. In addition, this position entails supporting the vaccine safety file for the Territory by following up on adverse events, participating in national working groups, and developing resources for health care providers and the public.

Essential Qualifications

  • Current Canadian licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Knowledge and experience in public health, particularly immunizations.
  • Experience in providing health education to the public and/or health professionals.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills and flexibility.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships and partnerships through collaboration.

  • A strong commitment to exceptional client service.

Conditions of Employment: 

  • Valid class 5 driver’s licence
  • Recent Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector
  • TB Screening
  • Current YRNA registration and licensure

Job Requirements: 

  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Position involves travelling often within Whitehorse for meetings, training, etc.
  • Occasional out-of-territory and within territory travel.
