ICU Registered Nurse

Island Health is seeking a full-time ICU Registered Nurse at the Comox Valley Hospital.

This is an advanced hire ICU/Tele relief position. Candidates must be qualified to work in both areas. The purpose of creating this position is optimizing our critical care Registered Nurse (RN) pool by recruiting a fully trained critical care RN to a permanent position. Candidates are required to pass the Island Health Basic Arrhythmia Challenge exam with a mark of 75% or greater to be considered for this role.

The Comox Valley Hospital opened its doors in 2017 and is a state-of-the-art hospital with six ICU beds and eight Telemetry beds.

Nestled between the mountains and ocean on central Vancouver Island, the Comox Valley is an ideal location for outdoor enthusiasts. It is one of the few places you can golf and ski in the same day, explore the endless hiking/mountain biking trails or embark on a kayak adventure.

The Comox Valley comprises three unique communities – Courtenay, Comox and Cumberland. The region is growing rapidly due to housing being more affordable than bigger urban centres and friendly neighbourhoods that are ideal for raising a family.

This is your opportunity to work for the largest employer on Vancouver Island, and live in a small community that offers reasonable real estate prices and plenty of outdoor activities. Do you have a spouse that may be seeking employment? Island Health has a wide variety of opportunities – almost something for everyone.

Qualifications:

  • registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant
  • basic Life Support, Level C
