Registered Nurse - Team Lead

This position is a Team Lead role working Day Shifts Monday to Friday. Wainwright Long Term Care is a 69 bed unit where this Registered Nurse/Team Lead will work within an interdisciplinary team environment to provide resident and family centered care.

The Team Lead will be required to provide leadership including direction, supervision, mentoring, constructive feedback and co-ordination of resident care to other professionals and unregulated staff. The Team Lead must have the ability to use critical thinking skills to plan, assess, implement and evaluate resident centered care as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. The Team Lead will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. This environment is suitable for candidates who have strong leadership skills, and great interest and knowledge in providing care to the elderly client, including those diagnosed with Alzheimer Disease or other dementias.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Able to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrate ability and comfort with the day-to-day decision making responsibilities of Long Term Care. Demonstrate ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues in consultation with Management.

Preferred Qualifications:

2 years gerontology nursing experience but willing to train. Minimum of one (1) years' working in a leadership capacity (i.e. Charge Nurse or Team Lead) is preferred. Charge Nurse and leadership training is an asset. Experience working in Meditech and RAI 2.0 is preferred. Preference will be given to staff who have completed CCHSS required education.
