Under the direction of the Eating Disorder Team Leader; the clinician is responsible for the assessment and the treatment of children, youth and adults suffering from eating disorders. As the Eating Disorder Clinician, you provide direct clinical services including:  intake, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and intervention for children, youth and adults struggling with an eating disorder.  You will participate in a multidisciplinary team approach and provide individual, group and family based treatment to the clients of the Eating Disorders Program, South Vancouver Island.  

In addition you will maintain liaison with family physicians and provide some education to the community on the identification and prevention of eating disorders in the South Vancouver Island region.  It is essential with this role to maintain appropriate clinical/client/administrative records.

Consultation with community agencies, schools, hospitals, and other ministry programs, regarding the specialization for eating disorders is a valued integral role of this position.   The importance of building relationship with a wide variety of stakeholders in the community is essential.

Qualifications for this role include:

• Master’s Degree in Social Work (Clinical Specialty or equivalent training/education), Educational Counselling, Clinical Psychology, Child and Youth Care, or equivalent.

• Successful social work candidates are required to seek and obtain clinical registration with the BC College of Social Workers (BCCSW) within 6 months of having completed the required 3000 hours of supervised clinical practice.

• Experience:

• Minimum two (2) years (recent i.e. last 5 years) clinical experience working in child and youth mental health services, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health preferably in an out-patient setting – working with eating disordered children, youth and their families.

• Preference will be given to individuals who have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience (recent last 5 years) working with individuals suffering from eating disorders

• Minimum one year experience with family counselling is preferred.
