Nursing Instructor

Work where you matter. Vancouver Island University is currently hiring for the role of Nursing Instructor for our Practical Nursing program. This permanent, full-time appointment will start on June 4 and provide instruction on Nanaimo and Cowichan campuses.

 

As our Nursing Instructor, you will teach in clinical, lab and/or classroom settings using creative strategies including preparation, implementation and evaluation in classroom, lab and clinical settings. You will work to support student learning through the integration and evaluation of students' progress in theory and practice and use initiative in providing documentation and follow up to facilitate student learning.

 

All instructors must meet the increased standards for faculty qualifications that are consistent with provincial curriculum requirements. These include: Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree; the BC Provincial Instructor Diploma Program, or its equivalent, completed or in progress (maximum two years to completion) from an accredited institution; current practising CRNBC membership in good standing; a minimum of five years recent medical, surgical or gerontological nursing experience; familiarity with practice settings in Central Vancouver Island including community, gerontology or acute care; a solid understanding of the scope and role of LPNs in the health care system; proficiency with the application and integration of information technology; and knowledge and experience with Aboriginal ways of knowing and health care needs.
