Providence Health Care

Registered Nurse / Psychiatric Nurse - Emergency

Canada-British Columbia-Vancouver

DowntownPHC17-107742-1493626

Company Information

Providence Health Care (PHC) is one of Canada’s largest faith-based health care providers, and a leading teaching and research organization. We are guided by the principle ‘How you want to be treated’.  Dedicated to creating a healthy community of inspiration and solace, we are an organization that really does care about our patients and staff.

St. Paul’s Hospital (SPH) is one of the busiest emergency departments in the province, serving over 114,000 visits per year to a wide range of patients, including some of the most vulnerable and marginalized populations and specializes in caring for patients with complex health problems.

An increase of 112% in visits due to mental health and substance use over the past six years has called to action two new treatment areas in the ER, the HUB and Acute Behaviour Stabilization Unit (ABSU). The HUB is aimed to divert mental health and substance use patients out of the regular flow of Emergency Department (ED) traffic, and redirect them to a new dedicated care setting, built on a model of rapid response and the co-location of acute and community resources.

This out-of-the-box solution comes in the form of state-of-the-art modular care spaces, which will allow St. Paul’s to co-locate services without any structural changes to the hospital. Please note successful applicants may work in additional areas such as the Acute Behaviour Stabilization Unit.
