Centennial is looking for an exceptional leader with strong managerial experience, capable of bringing a learner-centric approach to a large and complex department. Student success will be a crucial aspect of the role; do you have demonstrable experience to leverageand ensure student experience at Centennial is world-class? In this role, you will provide leadership in the development, delivery and ongoing review including external accreditation or program approval and licensing requirement processes of a related cluster of courses and programs in both full-time and/or part-time delivery formats (Practical Nursing (Full time, Flex and Internationally Educated Nurses programs), Health Foundations, Personal Support Worker and various Continuing Education programs) offered by the School. You will report to the Dean of the School of Community and Health Studies, providing academic and administrative leadership, supervision and direction to faculty, managers, support staff and/or students in the School. You will also seek out research/grant opportunities and respond to RFPs from various sources to build research and scholarship capacity for the department and School. Finally, you will play a leadership role in inter-professional education activities within the School.
Individuals possessing a Master’s Degree in Nursing, Education or related field will be considered for the role, with advanced nursing credentials as an asset. A minimum of 5 years of industry related experience is expected, with extensive relevant management experience.
Applicants for the position should possess a current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses and be able to provide effective and positive academic and administrative leadership. You will demonstrate success in creating a vision and managing change within complex systems, and have expertise in effective teaching practice, curriculum development, inter-professional education and collaboration as well as in the area of simulation. Ability in e-learning and the usage of a wide variety of social media are expected, as are skills in managing equity issues to work with diverse populations through negotiation and conflict resolution. You are demonstrably able to conduct, participate in and promote scholarly activities, and have proven ability to develop and promote effective internal and external partnerships and agreements, in addition to writing and applying for research grants/proposals. You possess demonstrated skills in financial stewardship, including budget development and balancing operational budget priorities, as well as in the development and implementation of effective strategic/academic/business plans. Finally, you will have experience, knowledge, and understanding of working effectively in a diverse and unionized environment.
